Thanks, glad to hear you liked the suggestions. Yeah Talat Noi is a great district, quite old school and loaded with nooks, alleys, and food! Chinatown as a whole has really developed over the last 20 years, as with the entire city, but in a much more positive and interesting way. Love wandering around there.
These places look fabulous, Stuart - especially the first one. And the second one. There's a place called The Yard in KL - sort of the same idea, though the BKK one looks a lot leafier. I wonder if they have the same owner.
The last we stayed in BKK, it was at The Quarter Hualamphong, three-minute walking distance to the train station. I loved the location and the amenities - close enough to Chinatown to walk there and have fantastic food! It's also an easy walking distance to Talat Noi, one of the very oldest neighborhoods in BKK. Ha ha, we discovered it accidently. I love it when that happens.
I stayed for a few nights in the Quarter late last year - loved the experience. Close to catch trains (although they have now moved elsewhere) and I found great sources of food and coffee nearby.
The Yard Hostel did such. fab job staying active throughout the pandemic, I found them as they still made instagram updates when most were quiet. Seems like a great place to spend a couple of nights. Thanks for the reminder. I've put it right back on top of my list. :)
Looks good. May try the first one. Food is important! Although does not tick my boxes of: gym, sauna, open view balcony and openable windows. But for this I know my places already. Thanks for this new writoinitiative
These places look pretty good. I have to laugh at the Chinatown one, since it's close to restaurants I've bookmarked as well. MRT access to Chinatown makes life a lot easier.
Glad to see Loy La Long survived and is getting good, recent, seemingly credible reviews.
Yup, Loy La Long still kicking, but their bigger rooms have inched up in price, so not really in our budget for that trip. Maybe another time without the kids! On a flight to Cebu now, will be sure to eat a slab of pork for you.
Loy La Long is a great experience sleeping right above Chao Phraya. But as Stuart mentioned prices got steep, for this money or less I will stay in my favourite Chatrium gazing on the river fm the balcony ...
I have never stayed at Aryiasom Villa but, I've eaten at their restaurant-Na Aroon a half a dozen times now. One of the best meals I have ever had in Thailand. Absolutely superb.
I was talking a walk one morning and it was a total surprise to find it at the end of Soi 1. I've chatted with the owner and her husband David a few times. Super friendly guy.

I would definitely stay there again. Well, there and about 100 other places in Thailand.
I understand the need for the new main train station, but my heart belongs to Hualamphong. 😎
Booked a room at the Live Local for my last night in Bangkok, thanks for the tip!
Nice one, We tried to book it for when we’re there in December, but it was full. That’ll teach me to write about places I want to try lol
It was full through all the OTAs but I found a room going directly through them, if that helps?
